A Maryland (Ahmadiyya\Qadiani) dentist with ties to a Baltimore-area dental clinic is in federal custody after DEA agents say he not only distributed pain pills without a medical purpose but also tried to arrange sex with a minor.

Charging documents show Dr. Vaqar Choudry, of Germantown, ran the Hagerstown Dental Center on the 300-block of E. Antietam Street. Internet searches show he previously worked out of a dental clinic based in Laurel, although during a call to that office a representative indicated Choudry no longer had ties to the clinic.

Court records show agents from the Drug Enforcement Administration began investigating Choudry back in May. Their focus, one agent says, was on complaints that Choudry was supplying pain pills to patients even when they did not indicate they were dealing with pain.

During the course of that investigation, a confidential source approached the DEA two weeks ago, telling investigators Choudry was willing to trade oxycodone in exchange for sex with a minor. The charging documents show Choudry was also willing to pay $250 in cash for the opportunity.

The confidential source, according to the DEA, had several conversations with Choudry and helped facilitate a meeting between Choudry and a fictional child. That meeting was scheduled for last Thursday at a Hagerstown motel. When Choudry arrived for the meeting, he was arrested.

Choudry has been charged with distribution of oxycodone and enticement of a minor to engage in sexual activity. The U.S. Attorney’s Office says he’ll face a magistrate Thursday afternoon.

The website for Maryland’s Dental Board says Choudry’s license is active although Executive Director Laurie Sheffield-James tells ABC2 asummary suspension has been issued, removing Choudry’s ability to practice. —
