LAHORE: Majlis-e-Ahrar, the religious party struggling to protect the finality of Prophet (SAW) against Qadiyanis’ hijacking of Islam in the subcontinent for over one hundred years, has rejected the highly controversial legislation of Sindh Assembly which bars any non-Muslim under 18 years of age to embrace Islam in the country, and also bars any adult Muslim convert to announce his new religion within 21 days of his becoming Muslim.
Majlis Ahrar secretary general Abdul Latif Khalid Cheema and deputy secretary general Qari Yusuf Ahrar, have warned that the legislation was against Quran and Sunnah, and the very objectives of creation of Pakistan as an Islamic state. They alleged that the legislation was a continuation of foreign agenda being pursued by Pakistani legislators on the behest of their foreign masters, and expressed sorrow that PPP’s present leadership was being used for this ugly agenda despite that its founding chairman ZA Bhutto was the pioneer who enacted an Islamic constitution declaring the country an Islamic state by protecting it against all secularist conspiracies 45 years ago.

LAHORE: A judge of the Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) on Tuesday ordered that statements of four men accused of distributing a daily newspaper of the Ahmadi community, which allegedly contained blasphemous content, should be recorded on April 26.

The four are among six Ahmadis facing charges under Sections 295-B (defiling or desecration of a copy of the Holy Quran) and 298-C (an Ahmadi posing as a Muslim) of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) and Section 11-W of the Anti-Terrorism Act in a case registered with the Islampura police station. The complainant had accused the Ahmadis of printing and distributing Jamaat-i-Ahmadiyya’s community newspaper Al-Fazal, which he had claimed carried blasphemous content. He had stated in his complaint that Khalid Ashfaq was president of the Ahmadi organisation in Kareem Park and had been distributing Al-Fazal amongst people, even though the Home Department had banned the newspaper in October 2011. The police were informed and had taken Khalid Ashfaq and Tahir Ahmed into custody when they were distributing copies of the newspaper. A printing press was also raided where allegedly blasphemous material was printed. The police later arrested Faisal Ahmed and Azhar Zareef. All four had been freed on bail. Daily Al-Fazal editor Abdul Sami and another accused Tahir Mehdi have not been arrested so far and have been declared proclaimed offenders. The four accused who were granted bail said in the court that none of the charges under the penal provisions invoked against them had been proven. The counsel for complainant contended that the accused had committed the cited offences by distributing a banned newspaper, which he said contained blasphemous material.

Lahore.

An additional district and sessions judge on Monday dismissed the after-arrest bail petition of a doctor accused of preaching Ahmedi beliefs and distributing books containing derogatory remarks against some prophets.
Dr Masood Ahmed said he had been implicated in a false case for ulterior motives. Advocate Ghulam Mustafa Chaudhry, counsel for the complainant, said Dr Ahmed had been nominated in an FIR with a specific role and the complainant had audio and video evidence to back his allegations.
Chaudhry said Dr Ahmed had preached Ahmedi beliefs to a patient and given him books containing blasphemous material.
Earlier, a magisterial court had previously dismissed Dr Ahmed’s post-arrest bail application.
The magistrate had said that prima facie, sufficient material was on record to connect Dr Ahmed with the offence.
Thus he was not entitled to bail at that stage.
The FIR registered under Section 298/C at the Old Anarkali police station on behalf of Maulana Muhammad Ehsan states that when he and some friends visited Dr Ahmed’s clinic a few days back the doctor preached Ahmedi beliefs and gave them some books containing derogatory remarks against some prophets.
